The safety and well-being of children under our care is our highest priority. This policy establishes clear guidelines for providers regarding supervision and oversight of swimming or water-related activities during backup care requests.

Policy Statements:

  1. Prohibition of Water Activity Supervision:

    • Providers caring for children during a backup care request are strictly prohibited from supervising or overseeing any activities related to swimming in pools, lakes, oceans, or any other bodies of water.

  2. Review of Requests Involving Swimming:

    • Any backup care request that includes requirements or notations involving swimming will be subject to review by the Servicing team.

    • A follow-up with the family will be conducted to clarify and address the request.

  3. Handling Additional Swimming Requests:

    • If a request for swimming supervision arises during the course of care and was not included in the original care request, providers must:

      • Inform the named adult on the care request that swimming supervision and oversight fall outside the responsibilities of their role.

      • Immediately notify the appropriate teams, including:

        • Servicing team

        • Booking support team

        • Caregiver management team

  4. Provider Responsibility:

    • Providers must strictly adhere to this policy and ensure that they do not engage in any activities that compromise the safety of the children or violate the defined responsibilities of their role.

Non-compliance with this policy may result in corrective actions, up to and including removal from the provider network, to ensure the continued safety of children in our care.

Effective Date: This policy is effective immediately and will be reviewed periodically for updates or adjustments as needed.
