Tips for Toddler Care
We've compiled some safety rules to consider when watching a toddler for you here. If you have any questions at all, please reach out to your supervisor. These are important to ensure the safety of the children!
Health Tips
Healthy Eating Habits: Encourage a balanced diet with fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Be mindful of any food allergies or dietary restrictions the child may have.
Hand Hygiene: Teach toddlers to wash their hands before meals, after using the bathroom, and after playing outside. Help them develop good hygiene habits.
Promote Hydration: Ensure toddlers drink plenty of water throughout the day, especially after active play or in hot weather.
Proper Sleep Routine: Stick to a consistent nap and bedtime routine to ensure the toddler gets enough rest. A well-rested child is healthier and happier.
Monitor for Illness: Be alert to signs of illness (fever, coughing, unusual behavior), and know when to notify parents. Keep a first aid kit and child-safe medicines available.
Sun Protection: Apply sunscreen to the toddler when playing outside and encourage them to wear a hat and protective clothing to shield their skin from the sun.
Safety Tips
Supervision: Always keep a close eye on toddlers, especially around water, stairs, and playground equipment. Accidents can happen quickly at this age.
Childproofing: Inspect the home for hazards like sharp objects, cords, or unstable furniture, and ensure safety gates are used where needed.
Safe Play: Provide age-appropriate toys that are free of choking hazards and sharp edges. Avoid toys with small parts that can break off.
Teach Safe Boundaries: Help toddlers learn to stay close in public areas and avoid touching dangerous objects. Establish clear rules around roads, parking lots, and public places.
Emergency Preparedness: Know emergency contacts, have basic first aid knowledge, and always have a charged phone on hand in case of emergencies.
