Caregivers who are experiencing inclement weather should reach out to their supervisor immediately to ask for direction. Below is the potential guidance a supervisor will provide.

24 Hours/Day Prior to Care:

Reach out to the family the day before the expected inclement weather to check in and see if they still require care, especially if you are concerned about traveling in the weather. If the parent would still like you to come, ask the following questions:

  • Will there be parking/could there be a snow ban in the town? Where is the closest public transportation? (If applicable)

  • If the weather starts to decline (snow gets heavier etc.), will the parents be able to let you go early so you can get home safely?

  • Please let parents know that there will not be a cancellation fee if they want to cancel for weather-related cancelations.

Morning of Care:

Reach out to the parent on the morning of planned care to confirm they still want you to come. If the weather is really bad in the morning and you feel uncomfortable traveling, please reach out to the Caregiver Booking Support Team by calling (617) 739-5437, email  bucproviders@care.com or send a chat via the app.

If there is a state of emergency, all jobs may be canceled.
