Tips To Staying Healthy During Cold & Flu Season
Wash your hands: Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially before meals, after using the bathroom, and after coughing or sneezing. If soap and water aren't available, use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
Cover your coughs and sneezes: Cough or sneeze into a tissue or your elbow, not your hands.
Clean surfaces: Regularly clean and disinfect surfaces that are touched often, such as doorknobs, countertops, and handrails.
Stay hydrated: Drink enough water each day to boost your immune system.
Get enough sleep: Aim for at least seven hours of sleep each night.
Exercise: The Department of Health and Human Services recommends that adults get 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity each week, plus two days of muscle-strengthening activity.
Manage stress: Chronic stress can weaken your immune system. You can try practicing mindfulness or meditation, taking time to relax, or reaching out for support if you're feeling overwhelmed.
